Word Wednesday - Outre

I've pondered away the afternoon over “outre”, our word of the day. Can you say outre (ooo-tray)? I knew you could! But do you know what it means?

Interestingly enough the definition of the word fits it well, as it is an adjective used to define the outrageously unconventional. I think Jim Carey's onscreen antics in most of his comedies is a very apt visual, as he's often outre and over the top. Ironically enough, the very fact that outre is something we would absolutely not use in normal conversation makes it, in itself, outre. I do love irony.
