Fueled by anger too long pent up, his good nature falls astray. He strikes, hateful words uncensored. Hurt blossoms in her eyes, bright tears pooling before she ducks her head. “If you feel that way, you should go.”

Truth be told, he does feel that way. And worse. But there's other things. Good things. Love and laughter that outweigh the bad.

“I'm sorry,” he offers. “I didn't mean it.”

She accepts both apology and hug. Too easily. And simple as that, he pushes the anger away with no thought that it will only fester into another boilover.
